Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Paris

A Quick Summary

I'm Alex Carter, based in Paris, and for the past several years I've chronicled my experiences at gyms across France.

This site came about after growing tired of choosing gyms based on ads and vague recommendations, only to find the reality didn't match expectations. I wanted clear, honest information about what these places were really like. Since I couldn't find it, I decided to build it.

How This Started

My workout routine began at a tiny gym close to 5 Boulevard Saint-Michel in Paris. It wasn't flawless, yet it was reachable, affordable, and it helped me stay consistent.

After that place shut, I saw how fast the fitness landscape in France was changing. New clubs emerged, new ideas appeared, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.

I began trying different gyms and classes, jotting notes after each visit. Over time those notes became this site, created to help others make more informed choices.

My Review Method

Every review here reflects actual visits and time spent inside the facility. I concentrate on practical details that matter when selecting a membership.

When evaluating a gym, I usually:

  • Take enough time to grasp routines, peak times, and patterns
  • Visit on multiple days and at various times
  • Experiment with more than one training format and coach
  • Regularly use the amenities to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Speak with other members about consistency and gaps
  • Jot down notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when major changes occur—renovations, leadership shifts, price changes, or new facilities. Each article displays the last update date so you know the information’s freshness.

What I Value

My priorities may differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when assessing a gym:

Comfort and Privacy: Does the space feel thoughtfully designed for members, with clear boundaries and a tranquil vibe?

Equipment Quality: Are machines well-maintained? Is there sufficient variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd Management: Can you train during your preferred times without persistent waiting?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness indicates how seriously management takes the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Transparent pricing, clear rules, and no unexpected charges.

Outside the Gym

Away from training and writing, I reside and work in Paris. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right setting.
